1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to every use of WebPerception LLC's internet and network services. It is part of your Service Agreement. By using our services you agree to follow it, and you are responsible for everyone who uses your connection.
The AUP exists to protect WebPerception, our customers, and the wider internet from irresponsible or illegal activity, and to keep the network working well for everyone who shares it.
2. Prohibited Activities
You may not use our services, or allow anyone else to use your connection, to:
- Engage in illegal activity, or post, transmit, or distribute illegal content
- Send spam or unsolicited bulk messages of any kind
- Distribute malware, viruses, or other malicious code
- Access, or try to access, systems, networks, accounts, or data without authorization
- Harass, threaten, or abuse others
- Infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
- Interfere with or disrupt our network, our equipment, or other customers' use of the service
- Alter, spoof, or tamper with the IP address or network settings we assign to you
- Resell, redistribute, or share the service outside your service address, or operate as an internet service provider (see the "Customer Use" section of the Service Agreement)
3. Everyday Uses We Support
Our connections are built for normal home and business use, including:
- Streaming video and music
- Online gaming and entertainment
- Video calls and remote work
- Smart home devices
- School, education, and research
- Personal and business communications
- Cloud storage and backup
4. Network Management
WebPerception uses reasonable network management practices to maintain quality of service, relieve congestion, and protect network security. These practices are applied to keep the network working for everyone, not to favor or disfavor particular lawful content or applications.
5. Security Requirements
You are responsible for securing the devices and networks you connect to our service. That includes using a firewall, keeping devices and software updated, using strong passwords on your router and WiFi, and running antivirus software where appropriate. If a compromised device on your connection is harming the network or others, we may suspend the connection until it is fixed.
6. Bandwidth Usage
We do not impose data caps. Usage that is so heavy or sustained that it degrades network performance for other customers may be reviewed, and we may ask you to change how you use the connection or move to a plan that fits it. Business plans may include specific bandwidth allocations under your Service Plan.
7. Enforcement
Depending on the violation, we may:
- Send a warning notice
- Temporarily suspend service
- Terminate service under the Service Agreement
- Refer the matter to law enforcement or take legal action where appropriate
Where practical we will contact you first. Serious or repeated violations may be handled without notice.
8. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of a violation of this AUP, please report it to abuse@webperception.com or call (415) 892-7711. Include the date and time, the addresses involved, and any evidence you have.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. When we do, we post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. We will tell customers about material changes by email or by a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
