This policy is written to be read. If anything in it is unclear, call or email us and a person in our Novato office will answer.
1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
WebPerception LLC ("WebPerception," "we," "us," or "our") is a locally owned internet and technology company in Novato, California, established in 1997. We provide fixed wireless internet, WiFi and networking, camera systems, and managed phones to homes and businesses in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and nearby communities.
This policy covers the information we collect through our website, webperception.com, and when you contact us, ask about service, or become a customer. It explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
If you are a customer, your account, billing, and payment information is handled in our customer portal and billing system, which has its own login. This policy applies to that information too, but the details of the portal are described only briefly here.
Please read this policy together with our Terms of Service and, if you are a customer, your Service Agreement.
2. Information You Give Us
Availability checks, quotes, and contact forms
When you ask whether we can serve your address, request a quote, or send us a message, we ask for:
- Your name
- Your email address (required)
- Your phone number (optional, unless you ask us to call or text you)
- The address where you want service, including city, state, and ZIP code
- The kind of service you are interested in (for example, home or business internet)
- A business name, if you have one (optional)
- How you would like us to contact you (email, phone, or text)
- Anything you write in the message box
When you call, email, or text us
We keep the contact details you use and the content of the conversation so we can follow up on your request or resolve a problem with your service.
When you become a customer
We collect the information needed to install and bill for service: your legal or business name, service and mailing addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and payment information. Payment details are handled by our billing system and its payment processor.
Please do not put sensitive personal information (for example, health or financial account details) in a message to us.
3. Information Collected Automatically
With a form submission
When you submit a form, our server records your IP address, your browser type (the "user agent"), the page you submitted from, the site that referred you to us, the first page of your visit, and any campaign tags (UTM parameters) in the link you arrived from. We use this to stop spam and automated submissions, to limit how often a single address can submit, and to understand which pages and campaigns lead to inquiries.
Address suggestions (Google)
When you type in the address box, the text you type is sent to Google's Places service through our own server, with a token that groups the keystrokes of one lookup into a single session. Google uses it to suggest matching addresses. Google's script is not loaded in your browser, and your name and contact details are not sent with the request. If you pick a suggestion, we store Google's identifier for that place and the address you confirmed. We do not store the map coordinates Google provides. "Google Maps" attribution is shown with the suggestions, as Google requires. Google's handling of the request is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Service-area map
To keep our service-area map accurate, we send the address line only (street, city, state, and ZIP code) from an inquiry to the US Census Bureau's public geocoding service to get map coordinates. No name, email address, phone number, or other details are sent with it.
Our own website analytics
Our website keeps its own visitor statistics. Everything is sent to our own server; no third-party analytics script is involved in this part. We record page views, clicks on certain buttons and links, form starts and submissions, web performance measurements, and broken links. We do not store your IP address with analytics data, and we do not fingerprint your device. The identifiers we use are:
| Name | Where | What it holds | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
wp_vid | Cookie | A random visitor ID so repeat visits count as one visitor | 1 year |
wp_sid | Session storage | A session ID | Ends after 30 minutes of inactivity or when you close the tab |
wp_attr | Local storage | The first page of your visit, the referring site, and campaign tags | 30 days |
wp_ab | Cookie | Which version of a page you were shown when we compare two versions | 90 days |
wp_noanalytics | Cookie | Set only in our own staff's browsers so their visits are left out of the statistics | 1 year |
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal or has Do Not Track turned on, we do not write any of these cookies or storage items. The identifiers then live only in memory for the current tab.
Google Analytics and Google Ads
On webperception.com we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads conversion measurement to learn whether our advertising leads to inquiries. These tools set Google cookies (for example _ga, _ga_ followed by an ID, and _gcl_au), and Google receives information about your visit. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web servers keep standard access logs (IP address, requested page, browser type, and time) for security and troubleshooting.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Check whether we can provide service at your address and respond to your inquiry
- If we cannot serve your address today, keep your address and email so we can let you know if service becomes available in your area, and to help us decide where to expand. You can opt out of these notices at any time.
- Provide, install, support, and bill for service, and manage your account
- Send service notices, outage and maintenance information, and billing notices
- Tell you about our own services and offers. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time.
- Understand how our website is used, improve it, and measure our advertising
- Protect our network, website, and customers from fraud, abuse, and attacks
- Meet legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our agreements
We call you by phone only if you asked us to call, or to resolve an issue with service you already have.
5. Text Messages
If you choose text as the way you would like us to reach you, our forms show this statement before you send your request:
By choosing text, you agree that WebPerception may send text messages about your request to the number you gave. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out.
We store the exact wording you agreed to, the version of that wording, and the time you agreed, together with your request. We send text messages only about your request or your service. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts. Our office also exchanges texts with customers who text us first.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The cookies and storage items we set ourselves are listed in the analytics table above. None of them is used for advertising, and none is shared with anyone. Google Analytics and Google Ads set their own cookies, described above.
You can control cookies in your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Turning on the Global Privacy Control signal or Do Not Track in your browser stops our own identifiers from being stored. The Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above stops Google Analytics. Blocking cookies does not affect the forms on our site.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as follows:
- Our internal systems. Sales inquiries are stored in our website database and forwarded to our internal customer relationship management system with the details you gave us (name, email, phone, service address, service type, business name, contact preference, and message), the page you submitted from, and the campaign tags from your visit. General contact messages stay in our website inbox.
- Service providers. Companies that host our website and systems, deliver our email and text messages, process payments for customers, and provide the Google and US Census Bureau services described above. They may use the information only to provide those services to us.
- Legal reasons. To comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or enforceable government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of WebPerception, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers. If WebPerception is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your consent. When you ask us to share information, or agree to it.
We may share aggregated information that does not identify anyone, for example the general level of demand for service in an area.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, including to respond to your inquiry, to provide and bill for service, to resolve disputes, and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Inquiry records, analytics data, and server logs are kept for as long as they are useful for those purposes and as the law requires.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) to our website, access limited to staff who need it, and rate limits and spam protection on our forms. No website or system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please use good judgment about what you send us.
10. Children
Our website and services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your California Privacy Rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"), gives you the rights described in this section.
Categories of personal information we collect
In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: name, email address, phone number, postal address, IP address, and the random cookie IDs described above
- Commercial information: the service you asked about and, for customers, your plan, account, and billing history
- Internet or network activity: pages viewed, form interactions, the referring site, and browser type
- Geolocation data: the service address you gave us and its map coordinates. We do not collect precise geolocation from your device.
- Professional information: a business name, if you gave one
We collect this information from you, from your browser or device, and from the Google and US Census Bureau services described above. We use it for the purposes in "How We Use Information" and disclose it to the service providers in "How We Share Information." We do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so in the last 12 months. We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CCPA defines it.

- Right to delete: personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions the law allows
- Right to correct: inaccurate personal information we hold about you
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of

- Right to non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently for exercising these rights
How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@webperception.com or call (415) 892-7711. Tell us which right you are exercising. To protect your information, we verify your identity by matching what you tell us (for example your name, email address, phone number, or service address) against what we have on file, and we may ask for more detail if we cannot make a match. We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and may take up to 45 additional days.
You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you. We will ask for your written permission for the agent and may verify your identity with you directly.
Shine the Light
California Civil Code section 1798.83 lets California residents ask once a year whether we have disclosed personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not.
12. Other Privacy Rights
We offer service only in California. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another place with its own privacy law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of, or receive a copy of, your personal information. If you believe one of these rights applies to you, contact us and we will respond within the time the law requires.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you by email or by a notice on our website.
14. Contact Us
Questions about this policy, or a request to exercise your privacy rights, can be sent to us by email, phone, or mail.
