Network Design & Support
A good internet connection can still feel unreliable if the equipment behind it was not planned as a whole. We design, install, clean up, and support the routers, switches, cabling, and network separation that homes, businesses, and multi-building properties across the North Bay run on.
Why It Matters
The connection into the building and the network inside it are two different things. Most of what you use every day, from video calls and cloud software to cameras, phones, printers, and guest WiFi, runs through a router, a switch or two, and whatever cabling is in the walls. When that equipment is aging, overloaded at busy times, badly cabled, or set up as one flat network where every device can see every other device, the connection gets blamed for problems it did not cause.
We look at the whole path. We review what you have, design what the property actually needs, install and configure it, document it, and stay available to support it. The result is a network that is easier to understand, quicker to fix, and ready for the next thing you add to it.
What We Help With
Some projects are a single problem to solve. Others are a property-wide design. Either way, the same pieces are involved.

New cable runs to the places that should be wired: desks, access points, cameras, TVs, printers, and point-of-sale counters. We also tidy what is already there: label the runs, replace damaged cable, terminate to a patch panel, and mount the equipment so the next person can understand it.

A barn office, guest house, tasting room, shop, or workshop can join the main network. Depending on distance, terrain, and line of sight, that is a cable run, a point-to-point wireless link between rooftops, or a mix of both.

When something is slow, drops, or only fails at busy times, we look at the whole path: the router, the switches, the cabling, the WiFi, and the settings. Then we explain what we found and what is worth changing, whether we installed the system or someone else did.
We look at the property, the equipment you have, how many people and devices use it, and what has to keep working. The design comes from that, not from a box off a shelf.
The router handles traffic in and out; the switches carry it around the property. We size and configure both for the way you use the network, and replace equipment that has aged out.
Good WiFi starts with a wired network behind it. Access points get planned with the rest of the design, so coverage and the network under it work together. Larger WiFi projects have their own page.
Staff devices, guest WiFi, cameras, point of sale, and smart devices can each get their own lane on the same equipment. It keeps a guest laptop away from the register and keeps camera traffic from crowding the office.
A planned way for you, your staff, or a vendor to reach the network from outside, set up on purpose rather than by opening ports on the router. VPN access where it fits the property.
Labeled cables, a simple diagram, a record of what is where and how it is set up. It makes support quicker, and it means you are not locked to whoever installed it.
After the Install
Where the equipment and the service allow it, we can watch the network from our office: whether the router, switches, access points, and links between buildings are online, and how they are behaving. When something needs attention, support starts with useful information instead of starting blind.
Monitoring is available with an agreed scope. We work out together which devices are covered, what we watch for, and what we do about it. It is an option we discuss with you, not something that is automatically included with an installation. Monitoring does not prevent every issue, but it can catch problems earlier and give our team a clearer place to start.
Phone support and network monitoring are available 24/7/365. Office and sales hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific.

Who This Is For
A few of the situations we plan for across Marin, Sonoma, and Napa.
Work computers, TVs, cameras, doorbells, speakers, and a home office that needs steady video calls, all on one router that was not planned for it.
Point of sale, staff tablets, music, cameras, and customer WiFi kept apart from each other on equipment that fits in a back room.
Cloud software, phones over the internet, printers, and staff who connect from home, with a network that is documented and supportable.
A main house, a barn office, a shop, a gate, and a well pump, connected by cable or wireless links so the whole property is one network.
Camera recorders, gate controllers, and door readers need wired drops, their own network segment, and a way to view them remotely.
A router from one provider, a switch from a hardware store, an extender behind the couch, and nobody sure which cable goes where.
How It Works
You do not need to know the equipment, the technology, or the terms before you contact us. Tell us what is not working or what you want to connect, and we will ask the right questions.
Describe the property, what is on the network, and what is not working or what you want to add. You do not need to know the equipment names.
We look at the existing equipment, cabling, where the connection comes in, the buildings involved, and how people actually use the network.
A written scope: what we suggest, why, what stays, what changes, and what is optional. Priced before any work starts.
Cabling, equipment, network separation, remote access, and testing from the devices you use every day. We label and document as we go.
Remote diagnosis first when possible, on-site when needed. Monitoring and ongoing management are available with an agreed scope.
Good to Know
We would rather be clear about scope before work starts than surprise you after.
Common Questions
The connection into the building and the network inside it are two different things. An aging router, a switch that is overloaded at busy times, damaged or poorly terminated cabling, WiFi access points in the wrong places, or every device sharing one flat network can all make a good connection feel bad. We review the whole path from the router to your devices and tell you which part is actually the problem.
No. We design and support networks for homes and businesses whether or not we provide the internet connection. If the connection itself turns out to be the weak point, we will tell you that plainly.
A VLAN separates one physical network into several logical ones. Guest WiFi, staff devices, cameras, point of sale, and smart devices can each be kept apart on the same switches and access points. Many homes do not need it. Most businesses with customers on the WiFi, card terminals, or cameras benefit from it, and we will recommend it only where it solves a real problem.
Often, yes. The right approach depends on distance, terrain, structures, power at the far end, and line of sight between the buildings. Options are a cable run, a point-to-point wireless link between rooftops, or a mix of both. The site survey settles which one fits.
Usually. The first step is reviewing the equipment, the settings, any documentation, and the current issue. Some systems are proprietary or locked to the original installer, and we will tell you what level of support is possible after a first look rather than guessing.
Not automatically. Remote monitoring and management are available for compatible equipment, with a scope we agree on together: which devices, what we watch, and what we do when something needs attention. Phone support and network monitoring are available 24/7/365 for the systems that are part of an agreement.
No. We focus on the network itself: internet, routers, switches, cabling, WiFi, remote access, and the cameras, phones, and connected equipment that run on it. Computer repair, software support, and email accounts are outside what we do. Contact us with the issue and we will tell you whether it is something we support.
